Last Saturday June 1st, Plana de l’Om in Manresa was full of non-profit organizations which work for a fairer word, giving information about fair trade and banking with values as alternatives for a better world.
We enjoyed the show “Karibú: songs and dances for a better world”, inviting little and big ones to know how fair trade producers get organized and how we can all contribute to better life and work conditions for everybody
We had the chance to taste Cafè Ciutat Manresa and also had a refreshing fair tarde chocolate milkshake, after dancing under the lovely sunshire of the first day of good weather in a wee while!
We spent some time preparing and decorating cakes in our “Fair Trade Patisserie”, explaining how these products are made guaranteeing fair pay for producers, respect for the environment, non- children nor adult exploitation, etc.
And the little ones had great fun helping out to create a coloured clay mural. Can you guess what is it? They’re cocoa seed, from where we elaborate chocolate bars that we eat.
Several non-profit associations gave information about banking with values (Fiare), renewable energies (Som energia) and food sovereignty (Community Allotments in the neighbourhood of Sant Pau).
The event was organized by Manresa Town Council with support of Setem, Fiare, and other local non profit organizations.
